Alpashunt is a 4-axle, single-section shunting diesel with AC/AC traction, a CATERPILLAR C27 (709 kW), designed for 1520 mm gauge, modular tower-type cab with 360° visibility, modular electrical & brake modules (DAKO), Stage IIIB exhaust standard, long scheduled-maintenance interval (first major repair after ~10 years), and good cold-weather capability down to −40 °C.
